The alkaline platinum electroplating process produces a uniform, silver-white coating with high hardness (500–700 HV), excellent corrosion resistance, good compactness, good electrical conductivity, and good solderability. The coating thickness can reach over 50 µm, and the plating bath offers excellent throwing power. 

This process is used in applications such as insoluble anodes and hydrogen fuel cells, as well as for platinum plating of decorative items, jewelry, precious ornaments, watches, clocks, and electronic components.
